The Role:

The “junior” designation for this role is actually misleading.  What a candidate may lack in experience, we expect they will make up for with raw intellectual horsepower and drive.  From Day 1 at PlaceIQ, you will be given the charter to conceive, design, develop, test and deploy systems for our own internal analytics and for our customers’ use.

Recent graduates and developers with a few years of experience looking to learn the tricks of the trade from a group of experienced industry veterans (with varied experiences ranging from large software companies, successful startups to some of the biggest financial services firms in the world) while delivering robust, performant code should definitely apply. You will work hand-in-hand with our product and data science teams to quickly turn ideas into prototypes and then full-scale, production quality systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or related field
• Proven development experience with Java and/or C/C++
• Scalable distributed algorithm design/implementation
• Database Systems (SQL+NoSQL)

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
• Background in applied mathematics/probability/statistics
• 2+ years developing production Java code
• Experience with Hadoop/Big Data paradigms
• Python/Ruby scripting (specifically with Python “scientific” platform/Ruby on Rails)
• Machine learning algorithms

This position is located in New York, NY.  Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
